Many models in evolutionary biology are based in simple combinatorics and linear algebra. We show in this talk how to interprete the mathematical concepts in these models from the biological point of view (and vice-versa). Finally, we show how to construct continuous models (i.e., differential equations) from the discrete models keeping all important feature, and compare the results from the continuous models with the results from the discrete models.
