Crack Detection Using Spherical Incident Waves and Near-Field Measurements

In this text we present criteria for determining the location of a plane crack and an associated numerical method. We use spherical incident waves and measure the scattered field on some specified set of points. The numerical method for the plane crack identification uses a boundary finite element method for the computation of the direct problem. The behaviour of these numerical methods is analysed in several cases and simulations are presented.
