Foreword

This series of lectures is aimed at bringing together PhD students and young researchers, giving the opportunity to new and experienced researchers to learn and exchange ideas with experts in the field. The scope of the workshop is two-fold, providing both an introduction to modelling cancer growth and treatments as well as a more in depth awareness. It should allow researchers to start in the field and discuss their difficulties with their peers. We would also like to attract an audience of clinicians to be involved, providing them an introduction to the insights that mathematical modelling, numerical simulation and designed experiments can provide.

The lecture series will cover several topics related to some of the applications mathematical and computational oncology, including:
  • Cancer mechanics
  • Computational modelling
  • Targeted therapies
  • Tumor vasculature
  • Mutations
  • Discrete models
  • Modelling cancer growth
  • Cell division
  • Kinetic theory approaches
  • Necrosis formation
  • Angiogenesis
